fleeing persecution, violence, or human rights violations. The program includes the
following key visas:
- Refugee Visas (Offshore Subclass 200, 201, 203, and 204):
◦ For individuals outside Australia in need of resettlement.
◦ Includes categories such as Refugee (Subclass 200), In-Country Special
Humanitarian (Subclass 201), Emergency Rescue (Subclass 203), and
Women at Risk (Subclass 204). 2. Global Special Humanitarian Visa (Subclass 202):
◦ For individuals outside Australia sponsored by a proposer (e.g., family
or community) who face substantial discrimination or human rights
abuses. - Permanent Protection Visa (Subclass 866):
◦ For asylum seekers already in Australia who meet refugee or
complementary protection criteria.
◦ Grants permanent residency and access to work, study, and government
services.
Applicants must demonstrate a well-founded fear of persecution or substantial harm
under international protection obligations. The program reflects Australia’s
commitment to assisting vulnerable individuals through permanent resettlement.
